There is a 200 km network of cross-country ski trails in the region for all Nordic sports fans, whether in classic or skating style, from the easy trail for beginners through to the training trail on the glacier, there is something suitable for everyone.
Enjoy the view and the activity between glacier, mountain, and lake whilst gliding through the snowy winter landscape.
The 5 km Westloipe ski trail is especially suitable to start on, and begins in Kaprun. Experienced cross-country skiers might prefer the high altitude trail on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and once the light has faded, there are 5 km of night ski trails available (current cross country ski trail status).
Suitable equipment is available from the local cross-country ski hire shops, and you can get tips on technique whether you are a beginner or advanced from the cross-country ski schools offering courses for all levels of ability.

Tobogganing fun in Salzburger Land
Kohlschnait, with a 3 km long lit natural toboggan run offers you one of the most beautiful toboggan runs in the whole of Salzburg.
The idyllic walk up to the Kohlschnait-Hütte, or the lift up with the Rodel-Express through the snow-covered winter landscape is part of the tobogganing experience. After a winter walk on the tobogganing mountain, enjoy a hot Glühwein in the cosy atmosphere of a mountain hut. Highlights for young and old alike are the 14 station lit winter archery course and the tube sliding run that gives adults the chance of being children again.
